The new school supported by Fundación Ebro and our Peacock® brand, in partnership with Me Boafo Foundation, was inaugurated last September in Abamkrom, Ghana.
The project has made it possible to build a facility with six classrooms, a principal’s office, and a staff room, fully furnished and fitted with accessible sanitation facilities. The school replaces the former classroom block, which was in very poor condition, and offers a modern, safe environment for students and the entire school community.
The new facilities are already making a difference: following the school’s reopening in early September, enrollment increased by 24% in just two weeks. The increase reflects the trust families place in a school where their children can learn and grow in a suitable environment, without having to travel to other communities.
Me Boafo Foundation, the initiative’s local partner, has supported the entire process on the ground, from identifying the need to carrying out the construction work and coordinating with local stakeholders.
At the opening ceremony, Julio Campos, International Markets Director at Ebro Group, emphasized that “Today we are not simply opening a building; we are opening doors: doors to knowledge, to dreams and to a better future for the children who will study here for many years to come.” He also expressed Peacock®’s gratitude to Ghana and its wish to give back some of the trust the country has placed in the Ebro Group over the years.
Students, families, teachers, and local residents joined in celebrating a school that the community had long awaited. The festivities continued with music, dancing, and a shared meal featuring Jollof, a traditional Ghanaian dish made with Peacock® rice.
Through this initiative, Fundación Ebro reaffirms its commitment to projects that create a positive social impact in the communities where the Group operates. It also helps improve access to quality education, in the belief that a school should be a safe, protective environment that supports children’s learning and development.
