Our subsidiary Riviana Foods has held the third edition of “Jars of Hope”, a charitable initiative launched in California in 2024, which this year reached Washington State for the first time. This edition provided for the donation of one jar of rice or grains for every two RiceSelect® products purchased.
The campaign, which ran until 31 October 2026 in the stores of eight retail chains across California and Washington, aimed to support families who struggle to access adequate food. All donations will go to the food bank network in the state where the purchases were made. The two previous editions raised almost US$250,000 in financial and in-kind contributions. In California, nearly nine million people have difficulty accessing adequate food.
Riviana Foods’ partners in this initiative are California Food Banks in California and Food Lifeline in Washington, a Seattle-based organisation working in the west of the state, where one in eight people and one in five children experience food insecurity. Both organisations work year-round through their networks to help vulnerable individuals and families access nutritious food and other essential resources.
Megan Byerly, Brand Manager for RiceSelect®, highlights the significant social impact of the initiative: “Over the past two years, we’ve seen firsthand how a simple purchase can make a meaningful difference for families facing hunger”.
