{"id":22509,"date":"2019-11-26T11:59:18","date_gmt":"2019-11-26T10:59:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ebrofoods.es\/?p=22509"},"modified":"2019-11-28T11:10:48","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T10:10:48","slug":"ebro-to-invest-150-million-euros-in-securing-further-sustainable-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ebrofoods.es\/en\/news\/ebro-to-invest-150-million-euros-in-securing-further-sustainable-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebro to invest 150 million euros in securing further sustainable growth"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebrofoods.es\/\">Ebro Foods<\/a> has designed and launched a Global Sustainability Plan called RUMBO A 2030 [\u201cHeading Towards 2030\u201d], setting out its goals and actions in the area of environment and health &amp; social well-being to be developed by the Group up to 2030, with the aim of continuing to grow sustainably. The Group is to invest more than 150 million euros in developing this Plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ebro designed\nthe Plan after making an exhaustive analysis of its value chain, incorporating\nthe expectations of all its stakeholders and identifying the Sustainable\nDevelopment Goals in which it is able to make the greatest positive impact,\nthus focusing its commitment on three pillars of action: PEOPLE, HEALTHY EATING\n&amp; WELL-BEING and THE PLANET. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a view to\nreporting and making people aware of the progress achieved in each of these\nareas, the Group has set up the website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caringforyouandtheplanet.com\/\">CaringforYouandthePlanet.com<\/a>, where we will inform on our progress and fulfilment of the goals\ndescribed in RUMBO A 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PEOPLE: Human Rights, care of human capital and social progress in\ncommunities as our main areas of work<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Group will\npay special attention to enhancing the welfare of our employees, offering\ncontinuous training and career development in an effort to retain talent,\nsearching for ways to help them achieve a better work-life balance, upholding\nequality and diversity, increasing the ratio of women in our ranks and improving\nhealth and safety at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Plan\ncontemplates respect for Human Rights as our fundamental principle, and in this\nregard the Group will apply the Principle of Due Diligence in all our\nsubsidiaries, provide specific training in Human Rights for all our employees\nand develop an exhaustive programme of social audits at both our own workplaces\nand those forming part of our supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also\ncontinue implementing actions that contribute towards social and economic\ndevelopment in the Group\u2019s areas of influence, seeking to strengthen our\nrelations with local communities. In this regard, Ebro will continue to promote\nour own CSR <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionebrofoods.es\/proyectos\/\">projects<\/a>, including those we develop\nthrough our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionebrofoods.es\">Foundation<\/a>, along with initiatives\nof social interest promoted by NGOs and institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PLANET: Ensure the sustainability of our supply chain and own production\ncentres <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three\nfundamental areas of action contemplated in RUMBO A 2030 within this pillar are:\n(1) guaranteeing the environmental efficiency of all the Group\u2019s operations; (2)\nmitigating and adjusting to the effects of climate change; and (3) ensuring the\nsustainability of our principal raw materials. Accordingly, programmes are to\nbe set up to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&#8211; Reduce water consumption and increase the use of recycled and reused water<\/li><li>&#8211; Reuse and recover the waste generated at our plants, setting our sights on achieving \u201cZERO WASTE\u201d<\/li><li>&#8211; Eliminate the use of non-reusable plastics and see that 100% of our packaging is recyclable or reusable<\/li><li>&#8211; Reduce the quantity of packaging materials and 100% paper and cardboard from forests managed in accordance with FSC\/PFSC standards or recycled<\/li><li>&#8211; Optimise logistics and transport to reduce our carbon footprint, increase energy efficiency to reduce emissions, mitigate the carbon footprint on crops and implement carbon offset projects<\/li><li>&#8211; Foster sustainable growing practices and animal welfare policies.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal set in\nthe Plan is for 100% of our raw materials to be environmentally, economically\nand socially sustainable by 2030 and 100% of our suppliers to have acceded to\nthe Group\u2019s Supplier Code of Conduct or operate according to ESG policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WELL-BEING THROUGH FOOD AND ENCOURAGEMENT OF HEALTHY LIFESTYLES: R&amp;D\nand innovation as the driving force behind the development of products for\nconsumer health, anticipating their needs, and programmes to encourage healthy\nhabits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Group places\nthe utmost importance on investment in R&amp;D and innovation, with the\nintention of offering consumers a broad array of healthy products. In this\nline, Ebro has launched 255 new differentiated products with a high value added\nover the past two years.
